Wheel Alignment

What is an alignment?

Wheel alignment is essentially what keeps all four of your wheels and tires exactly parallel. You could imagine that even slight differences in the angles make huge effects in the way the car drives at speed. Your alignment is what keeps you driving straight and your tires hitting the ground correctly. Failure to maintain good wheel alignment can result in accelerated tire wear, reduce fuel efficiency, and wear-out suspension components. Oftentimes getting your wheels aligned correctly is the only way of avoiding more expensive issues and wear service down the line. Improper alignment can even lead to accidents caused by steering issues, so the reasons for maintaining your alignment go beyond just financial concerns.

Symptoms of Improperly Aligned Wheels

  • Steering wheel is crooked when driving straight
  • Rapid and uneven tire wear
  • Squealing noise
  • Car veering to the side

Unfortunately, wheel alignment isn’t as easy as just looking down the side of your car to see if your wheels are straight, it needs to be carried out by precise systems that don’t leave any room for error. These machines are computerized tools that measure the angles your wheels are sitting at, and calculate the perfect adjustment to get your car back on the road safely.

Importance of Tire Alignment

Tire alignment is quite important and here are reasons why drivers must consider taking their cars for the service.

Reduces Accidents

Regular wheel alignment has proven to reduce the chances of having an accident. When the adjustment has been ignored, this means that the angle at which your car rides will be compromised. So it will be hard to keep your car on a straight line. This is especially dangerous if you are driving on bad weather or poor road or if you are carrying heavy loads. This can also affect your ability to break or react properly when situations require a reaction while driving.

Reduces Tire Wear and Tear

When your tires are not properly aligned, they tend to increase the rate of wear and tear. This is normally caused by certain parts of the tire under pressure. When you drive on badly aligned tires, this means that you will have to spend more money replacing your tires and other parts due to the accelerated rate of wear and tear on the tread of the tires.

Increases Vehicle Performance

A car handles better, speeds up and slows down more efficiently when it has been properly aligned. This means that you can also save on fuel. So you should consider performing regular tire alignment if you want to enjoy a driving experience of a lifetime.
